My name is Loraine Verghese. I am a 38 year-old mother of one and
a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Service in London. I
am
driven by challenges and the desire to give something back to the
society in which I live. So I'm swimming the Thames for
J.A.C.K. My motto is "Carpe Diem" (Latin for "Seize the day") and I believe that everybody should do just that. Don't wait forever to live! |

When I first heard about the plight of a little boy called Jack Brown (the son of a colleague) who had been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma which is a rare form of childhood cancer of the nervous tissue I decided to help to raise funds to support his treatment in the USA. After over a year of preparation I successfully swam the English Channel from Dover to Calais to raise money for his cause and to raise the profile of Neuroblastoma among the public. And now I face the BIGGEST challenge of my life. And it's this challenge that this site is all about. |
